Balance between consumerism and ethical consumption must be applied based on the environmental condition. This is the imperative step and the change in ideology that is needed to bring in change.
The companies need to develop certain standard and practices for the designing of the apparel. There must be recycling process that must be embedded in to the design. There must be index created to measure the life-cycle impact of the clothing and the footwear products.
There must be development of newer fabrics that can be recycled. This would increase the sustainability of the products.
The consumers must be encouraged to wear clothes that are low-impact and also must be nudged to recycle their older clothes. Bourdieu theory of social capital must be used to influence the people to make more informed choices about their recycling. The people and the ideology of the society must change towards recycling and sustenance. This can improve the processes.
There is the need for better productivity process and the length of obsolescence of the companies must be reduced in this paradigm.
There must be better methods followed for the suppliers and the also the consumers. The need for all the stakeholder participation in this system must be explained.
