I watched FOX News from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at a restaurant. I have listed the headlines of the stories that had interested me. The external obstacles while I was watching the news are discussed in detail below:
• Message overload: There were a few news items which had an overload of information. For example when the news item related to the unemployment rates in US was presented; it had an overload of information. The news presenter was presenting the facts and figures of many European countries which were completely unrelated to the news item.
• Distractions: There were a number of distractions which came in my way. A group of friends which was sitting right behind me was talking loudly. The cell phone’s ringtone was a common distraction throughout the 30 minutes. Even my phone wasn’t kept on silent which distracted me twice. Not many people were paying in attention to what newsman had to say.
