A Hajj is believed to be the devotion to Allah. It is in no mean a way to raise the social standard with community of people or casts. It is on the believer who should have pure pilgrimage intention and devotion to Allah, not just raising his or her standards. As the pilgrim or the Hajji is respected in every part of world especially in the Muslim world, he should try to live his life according to the teachings of Islam and Allah. He should become an example for other Muslims around him. Hajj is performed in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah every year. But Muslims come to Mecca from all over the globe every day and every month to perform pilgrimage which is known as Umrah. Performing an Umrah is just like performing a Hajj, except Hajj is performed once a year in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. The most difficult part of performing pilgrimage to Mecca and performing Hajj is the journey to Mecca and all the walking done in the process. It is Mandatory on the people who can afford it and optional for a reason as there can be many problems, like making a journey, then supporting their families in their absence. The gathering of Pilgrimage of Hajj is considered as one of the largest peaceful gathering of people in the world. Hajj is performed by Muslims from all around the globe. It also demonstrates the solidarity and unity in the Muslim world. The word Hajj is Arabic word which means “to intend a journey” which cover the acts of journey, inwards and outwards.
Today, in this era of technology, performing Hajj has become easy, as the mode of transportation has modified from camels and horses to huge ships and airliners. But in the past, when there was no luxury of big comfortable ships and airplanes, people still poured from all over the globe to perform Hajj.
