According to the author of these book inter-city relationships is the topic that is greatly ignored by the researchers of this field so far. That is the reason that he focuses on inter-city relations in chapter one of this book. He argues that “external relations along with the internal relations among cities must be analyzed in order to have an ideal picture of the scenario[ See page 36]”. New city centered geography has came into existence by exploring the reasons and motives lying behind the development of connection among different cities. Different ways used to measure the world city network are devised in this chapter. All the important variables are taken account in the book that range from airline passenger flows to corporate structures. Traditional themes are conceptualized with a greater clarity in this chapter. Moreover, another important contribution that is made by this chapter is the realization of political implications associated with new geographies of flows. On the whole, many contexts of international importance are studied in this book including war on terror which the most hot topic of dispute among strategic alliances of the world. Localism, political world cities and city planning are also discussed in this book. Many chapters are aimed to review the positions that are taken by important stake holders of this field and an effort has been made to judge the state of knowledge that is possessed by us and its use to have an idea about the relationships existing among cities faced with globalization.
