There would also be a separate department of human resources. This department was not added earlier because of lack of staff and also there as not much need of holding a completely separate department. Human resource is important now because with the increase in the number of employees, the human resource concerns would also increase and there should be a cell which hears all the grievances of the employees and solves them. This would foster employee satisfaction. Another major role which this department would play would be to recruit the right set of people for the right department. The individual department heads would be relieved of this work and then they can solely concentrate on their own work.
There would be many structure changes when the company prepares to enter new states. It has been seventy five years and the business has grown to seventy five locations in five states. The major challenge is the span of control. With the increase in span of control, the top management needs to work very closely with the city heads in the given states. The last three level hierarchies would remain the same however there would be an inevitable increase in the number of employees. Unlike the initial stage where the Director had direct reporting of the manager, there would be several other levels between the manager and director. The organizational structure would be a tall structure so as to have better control over the employees. Each department head would be responsible for all the activities in his department (Armstrong & Taylor, 2014).
The major additions which the company needs to make at this juncture of running the business are to incorporate a legal team as well. With the increase in the number of clients and corporate, legal issues are inevitable and hence the company has to opt for a legal advisor. Since the business has increased manifolds, the company needs to keep all the records carefully for future reference. The company thus needs an external auditor as well.
